You may know already that Prodigy is the only provider of forged Diamond Pistons custom made for the 3.6 Pentastar, but what are they good for? What kind of performance benefits can I expect?

Let's start by taking a look at the factory pistons that came with your vehicle...
Here we have the factory pistons out of both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pentastar motors. As you can see, cast design with lightweight materials aimed at fuel economy. Cast pistons are made with the use of large, specialized equipment made up of a mold where the mixture of aluminum, alloys and silicone are poured to create the piston's shape. Most cast pistons will be sufficient for the factory power levels they were designed for and mild increases above that, but if you're really looking to turn it up forged pistons along with other forged internal components should be on your shopping list.
This is a stock Pentastar piston next to our beautiful Diamond Racing pistons. Right off the bat, the proof is in the pudding. Beautifully CNC'd, these pistons offer a significant increase in strength and durability over factory components. Most turbocharged and high performance car models use forged pistons because they're more tolerant to the abuses of extreme heat, detonation and pressure inherent in performance oriented engines.

Another benefit of forged pistons is the ability to custom tailor them to fit your needs. For instance, our Diamond Pistons are available in standard bore, or Overbore (.020) for increased displacement. These aren't just for turbocharged vehicles either, supercharged, nitrous fed, even N/A applications can benefit from a set of forged pistons!
